Te Anau, S. Island
Our next stop took us to a place called Te Anau our base for a couple of nights to cruise the famous (in NZ) Milford Sounds, where rain-forest covered mountains meet the sea.
The road to Milford Sound is supposed to be one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand with lakes and mountains everywhere you look, some of which were snow-covered. It's hard to explain just how good the views were, so we've stuck in a few photos! Once at Milford Sound we boarded our boat where we slowly cruised alongside the mountains and numerous waterfalls.
Later that day we also took a trip to the Te Anau glow-worm caves. Although just a short trip, the caves go for miles underground and encompass underground rivers and waterfalls, not to mention hundreds of glow-worms! Guttingly, photos weren't allowed and the opportunity didn't even arise for a sneaky snap!
